Chamber of Reflection
Art au Centre, Liège, Belgium — 2021

In this installation by Mégane Likin, the display window becomes a counter-space. It opens simultaneously inward and outward, through its large pane of glass and the blurred mirror set in the background — an unsettling off-frame presence reflecting three backlit landscapes. The window turns into a privileged site where interior and exterior overlap, where the passerby encounters their own reflection and thought. Though it appears open, the space remains inaccessible.

The indistinct mirror redirects our gaze toward the surrounding landscape, entering into dialogue with the small, meticulously hung “gardens.” These landscapes — fixed, or perhaps shifting — function as inner windows, projecting each viewer toward their own horizon. They reflect what is already no longer there. Three seemingly similar expanses whose simplicity leads us to the core of a quiet mystery.
